I always have two dive computers especially deep dive beyond recreational limits.
Advantages have two computers as backup. No doubt, No error!

No need , i dive with a buddy and i have a brain. Between the two and whets left in my tank (via SPG) no wireless crap for this same reason , i can make it out just fine

"Lies", you say!

Well... next time we dive together I'll take a hundred times as many dive computers and make you carry half of them for me!
Now that would be a sight to see. Careful they might "rot your brain". You are lucky to be able to find your bottom timer for any given dive. Remember the Stinger and what happened to it? :D:D:D:D

For the record dive computers and bottom times weigh the same don't they? :D

Scary stuff in this thread..........nice guys. Use your brain, and your computer as a backup, just incase your brain fails.

I dive with a buddy who uses the same computer as I do and has the same dive profile as I do. I also faithfully log my dives every night so if we both have a computer failure, I could switch over to tables. My super lazy recovery plan is to not dive for 10 hours and use tables to resume diving as a group A.

The humped one lies. He doesn't even use his timer or depth guage. He goes by ears for depth and sac versus his spg for time. Now if his spg fails - he is in a world of hurt.:D
Nah. A good diver won't be in trouble if his SPG fails. Don't YOU keep a running tally of the total number of breaths x ata that you have taken on the dive???? :)

Relying upon an SPG is excessive reliance upon a mechanical device. You'd be in a world of hurt if it fails. Much, much better to keep a running tally of breaths and at what depth they were at (i.e. 1 breathing cycle at 33' counts as 2, 5 breathes at 100' counts as 4x5=20.). I just figure an AL80 has a 800 breath capacity and go from there.

Ok in your first reference, I thought you were commenting metaphorically about dive buddies (each with a brain) ... such that you'd have even more dive buddies when diving remotely. But then came this reference, so I now I know it must be an "insiders" thing. Wanna share with the rest of us?
