So, collectively (herd mentality in your words) we all pretty much saw it for what it was, you were about the only person defending him on the thread

So what? What you perceive as defending may actually have been my effort to refocus the thread to its original intent of divers sharing pictures of their gear. Soloist and I spent a week several years ago diving with a group that included Steve. We had a great time and would do it again. IRL he’s “fairly normal” and a good guy with a good sense of humor. He does have a strong personality and loves attention (as does most of us)

"He is a nice guy...probably suffering from several personality disorders". Better? Obviously he obtains enormous satisfaction and entertainment from the cataclysmic sh!tstorms he conjures up on SB.

You say you've met him and he's actually a nice guy. He's probably one that always thinks he's the smartest guy in the room and believes he is intellectually superior to everyone else. He loves to manipulate people for entertainment. This is the sign of a sociopath and he's probably also very narcissistic, very lonely, and very insecure.
Here's the thing.
People can fabricate any persona they want on the internet. This behavior comes out of THEM, therefore it is them. They would never dare act like this in person because then they're face to face with a person and have to physically be responsible for their words or actions and they are cowards, but the tendencies and the thinking are still there.

It takes a lot of time and effort to be a troll.
This guy put a lot of work into all the caustic threads he's started. That says something right there. Who puts in that kind of time and effort in unless it's somehow very important to them to feed their physiological deficits.
So the guy you met on the boat was on his best behavior and seemed nice, but I bet it felt somewhat superficial.
I'll also bet he doesn't have a lot of friends either in real life.

I actually thought you were sarcastically agreeing with him on your first responses as a way to encourage more of his insane reasonings for our entertainment, but then it became clear you were indeed agreeing and defending him.

You confirmed it when you came back AFTER the fact and said this about us, the antagonists in your own words…

His ideas are idiotic and there was no reasoning with him, and now that we have confirmation he was here to troll us, it validates the responses he got were spot on.
