I am staying with family in Pebble Beach in April. We are looking for recommendations for diving. My oldest son (13 yrs old)is just certified and only has two dives in the Bahamas for expirence. My next son (age 11) needs to take his open water dive for certification and hopes to do it on this trip. I would appreciate any recommendations for dive sites, dive tours, dive shops, etc.

My name is Skipper (jskipper@redshift.com). I live in Monterey. First, the Acquarius Dive Shop is excellent, and can give you professional advise (831-375-1033) which I would strongly recommend.

The water here is cold, even in April. Temperatures will probably run in the low 50's (45 to 55 degrees). That means cold water wetsuits, which you and your sons may not have.

My recommendation: don't try to do too many things at one time. Its beautiful, but task overloading is possible if you are trying a new place, with heavy wetsuits, and therefore with heavy weights. Give Acquarius a call.
