considering the price of helium / trimix i see very little point in it within rec diving limits. very little to accomplish there what you cant do with air / nitrox and a adv nitrox / deco class cheaper.

not within rec limits. here in jamaica i cant get it to begin with (even nitrox is a major problem) and the price i would have to pay to buy the helium myself and go to a place that has a fillstation where i could blend it (yes, i am a blender to) makes the whole excercise worthless (to say the least). i am not up to date this days with prices in the "1st world" but would imagine that it is still a fairly expensive (compared to air / nitrox) choice. i didnt try to imply that it has NO points to it, but that many dives i hear ppl talking about down here they did on trimix could have as well done without with a similar profile.

I agree that there would be diminishing returns on recreational trimix dives in warm, clear, entanglement free water using single tanks shallower than 100 ft.

With 5 ft of vis, 37 degree water, and fishing line galore, it is nice, though. Add a wreck penetration into the mix and you have a prime candidate for a trimix in the 100' range.

agreed. just out of couriosity, what are the prices this days in the states for trimix? call it in some ruff figures for 35, 45, 55, 65%. here it would come to ruffly (not counting travel cost to get it / blend it) in a range $35 - $60 a tank!!!

My LDS just bumped the price of helium to $.85/cft

It costs me roughly $70-80 to get my double 130s filled with 21/35

We're around $1.00 CDN/cf of He.

My cost on the stuff assuming no waste and excluding bottle rental is about $0.60, so $1.00 is more than fair and should probably be higher.

You would be amazed at how much more you remember.
Because, even when you think "I am not that narced" ... you are that narced.
