wedivebc:recreational trimix is basic scuba.
recreational trimix is designed for NDL dives within recreational ranges. The training does require a little more thought than say an AOW but it's still rec scuba none the less. To be honest I know very little about rec trimix since the 2 agencies I teach technical trimix diving through don't have this program. I posted on this forum because several rec trimix divers I have talked to don't consider themselves tech divers.wilkie:I'm not a trimix user, so please forgive my ignorance: Nitrox- yes; hopefully Adv. Nitrox, and Trimix soon,
This statement, however, seems a bit "out of normal", I'm not busting your balls here, but how can one say "recreational trimix is basic scuba"? Unless the "rcreational trimix"
is composed of 21% oxygen, and 79% nitrogen, then we are not talking "basic scuba"....
We may be, however, talking about a gas which may be dealt with in much the same way as compressed air, but Basic SCUBA ??-- Bounce that off of an OW instructor!!
Since diveriteexpress was mentioned for the tables, I'll say that I spoke to them (since they're my LDS {fill express}) and asked about the rec trimix course. The owner told me that I could (should) take his advanced nitrox / deco procedures / rec trimix all in one course from him, which included a few trimix dives.wedivebc:recreational trimix is designed for NDL dives within recreational ranges. ianr33:So why does anybody buy a trimix computer?

The rec trimix would quote un-quote certify you to 150' as they say.
I will not claim to know any more about the rec trimix course than that. They also sell tables from their site which are specified as "rec trimix tables"
lamont:use 32% tables for 30/30, add in 1 min stops from 1/2 max depth.
limeyx:Yeah, but if you make things that simple then what is left for everyone to spend weeks and weeks arguing about? You'reg going to ruin all the fun.
Come on, personal choice is king! Let's all go diving with a different mix and our own "best mix tables"
Seriously though, this is one of the huge benefits of standard gases. Yeah, sure the gas may not be the "100% bestest gas for the dive" but they are really easy to work with! And then if you vary your depth during the dive which is inevitable to some extent then neither is the "Best mix" the 100% bestest.
lamont:some people really enjoy fiddling.
also, rec triox is good down to 150 fsw with 21/35, only you don't get very long down there, and you ought to know better...
