I am ready to order a new DUI signature CLX450 suit.

But before I call in the order...... I would very much like to get some input.

I think I am going to order the suit with the cordura pinstriped top AND bottom (instead of the polyester bottom). Not sure if it will make the suit less comfortable.

Not sure which pockets to get..... bellows or zipper type, large or small size? I like the idea of having the zipper... but a bellows would be much easier to get into with one hand perhaps?

I am going to go with the larger sized kevlar knee pads. I am going to go with the cordura butt pad.

I never get to a point where I can't wait to relieve myself (I really never feel like I have to pee when I dive), so I am not sure if the pee valve is a must have item?

Anyway.... I appreciate your thoughts and input before I make the purchase. I know it boils down to what I like/want.... but I would sure like to hear from others what they have found that they REALLY like.

Thanks much to all who take time to post!

I own the 450 with the poly bottom, and my buddy has the cordura bottom. My bottom has a great deal more wear and patching. My next suit will be cordura top AND bottom.

I have the zip pocket, and nearly all my tech buddies have the bellows pockets. The zip is more secure--nothing will come out by accident--and it is not difficult to access. The bellows pocket does hold more stuff. Tough call on this choice--both are good.

If you don't NEED the P-valve, and don't plan to enter tech diving or do extended dives, leave it off. Can always be added later for no trouble or extra expense.

My opinions. A further opinion is that there is no wrong choice with the DUI suits, especially in the CLX-450 series.

Enjoy!

I have the bellows, and just clip everything off on a bungee. All secure and I never have to worry about getting something out of a pocket where a zipper has corroded closed.

Besides, you're right - they hold more stuff.

I've got the same suit (no pinstriping however). I got a bellows pocket on the left and a zippered pocket on the right thigh. Things definately do fall out of the bellows pocket. :11: But I only put my tables in that one now. The size keeps them in the pocket but I guess I'll be eating crow if they fall out and deco-ing on the fly.

The zipper is all plastic, cannot corrode closed. And the zippered pocket also has a D-ring inside so you can bungee your items (might open the zipper while you're upside down).

Not arguing FOR the zipper pocket, just putting all the facts out there.

Thanks for the input so far.

I thought about going for one zippered and one bellowed pocket.... but hope to make a decision one way or the other. I think I want them both the same. I would likely have most everything important clipped off in the pocket. But it is nice being able to quickly and easily get into the pocket in case I find something I just have to pick up off the bottom. :eyebrow:

Still not sure about the pinstriping. I had a drysuit that had the small white specs all over it, and it looked stylin : :crafty: and you never know when you might run into a pretty lil mermaid.

Pretty certain I will go with the all cordura as mentioned I think it will wear longer.

I think I will forgoe the p valve if I can always add it later.

From what I can tell the signature series lets you add pretty much everything and they INCLUDE it in the signature series price right ($2700 shown at their site)?? For instance I don't think they charge extra for the zip seals, pockets, padding, etc..

I have the large zippered pockets on my 450. I went with zippers due to a few dropped weights from my bc which use velcro. No problems with the plastic zippers getting stuck or being self-opening. Wax keeps things moving. Two pull tabs on the zippers allow for easy access. My pelican nemo 8c fits in, comes out easily. The D-rings work great for peace of mind regarding thoughts about "drop outs".

I got the knee pads on the poly bottom. No butt pad. Just curious, how much will the suit weigh with the cordura bottom, knee and butt pads? More or less than the poly bottom?

Blue Dolphin:

With the Signature series, unless I'm mistaken, only a few options come free of charge. For instance, I think the Signature series comes with two knee pads normal length (either Kevlar or CF200), two pockets (zipper or bellows), and a dry hood.

All other options come at reduced price when ordering the Signature (which would include your zip seals, butt pad, etc.).

And I think if you order pin-striping, you get a long chain to hang your pocket watch with and a feather for the fedora.
