Finally decided it's time to take the cold water plunge. Found that Monterrey Bay Dive Center offers a tour for those who has never dove (sp?) in cold water before. Has anyone ever used that dive shop and what is your opinion of them? Also, I dive with a knife, safety sausage, and storm whistle. Is there anything else that I might need in a cold water environment? Thanks.

Well I dont know where to start. Whistle, sausage and a knife are nice but cold water has litlle to do with any of these items. Wear the appropriate suit!!!! Enjoy.

Trust me, I'll wear the proper amount/thickness. I want to enjoy the dive, not freeze my butt off :D .

Thanks for the info and offer Jim. Will use this dive to find out exactly if I'm into cold water diving. If I like, will definitely take you up on your offer.

Any of the four Monterey dive shops can arrange a tour, as can some of the bay area
shops.

To bone up ahead of time, http://www.garlic.com/~triblet/ba_diving/
and read the two sections that begin "Information ...".
