Aloha,

Can anyone tell me how all the rain is affecting the viz? - I'm flying back to Oahu this week to visit w/ some family and hopefully get in some diving.

Aloha,

It has. And we have major sewage spills at the moment which people are very upset about.
If you dive Captain Joe in Hawaii Kai, he goes out far enough to find patches of good viz, he is reporting to me down depp it is still 100 + in places, depending on the currents. Check www.tidesonline.com and aim for an incoming tide for the clearest water. I am avoiding the Waikiki area for now. I heard on the news that this is the most rain in 6 weeks we have had in a century. If you go with a captain who will hunt for good viz, it can be had on the south side. The more isolated you are from major bays and inlets, the better.

Mahalo Catherine.

Truly stinks (no pun) about the sewage. I suppose Waikiki Beach is adversely affected?

What about west side? And I hear that the rain might break up a bit after Thursday.

Aloha

yup, what Catherine says. But keep in mind the run off is everywhere and that alone will reduse the vis...they are saying that the weather might get better by the weekend, but they have been wrong before...Hope you have good conditions while you are here

If you call Pirate Divers, they have a big zodiac and can take you out to Rabbit Island. There is some clear water you are just gonna have to chase it.

Very nice stamps Leesa! I need to order one for my corporation. :D Fantastic artwork.

I dove the backwall of Molokini on Monday and it was "bad" for there... only 75-100 ft vis... Shoreline is like chocolate milk over here though :(

Aloha, Tim

Is the rain effecting the Big Island as well?

Overall I don't think they got as much as we did. Looking at the sat pictures the band of bad weather passes it. Here is a list of the rain in "....looks like they didn't get as much as we did (are)
