Taken from GUE's gear configuration page:

Power inflator hoses should run over the diver's left shoulder and be long enough to comfortably supply the power inflator, while not so long that they bulge out to either side. In turn, the inflator itself should be long enough that, with one hand controlling all maneuvers, a diver is able to easily reach his/her mouth, his/her dry suit inflation valve, and his/her nose; it should also be long enough that, if necessary, one could breathe out of it by simultaneously holding down both buttons.

Question: I understand reaching your mouth is to allow oral inflation. How about reaching your drysuit inflation valve and nose?

My guess is to allow drysuit inflation and ear equalization while holding the inflator?
But I can't visualize how that would be useful.

Anyone?

Useful when scootering up and down hills. You slide the light to the right hand (while driving the scooter) and your left hand controls all 3 functions (suit, wing, ears). You can do 2 of 3 at the same time (suit and wing, wing and ears).

When you level off, light goes back to the left hand.

Sometimes i do the reverse of this and run the scooter and light in my left hand and do the 3 with my right hand. Same same though.

Seeing most of the recent threads were started by you asking for help on gear configuration, I'd recommend you get yourself a copy of Dan Mackay's : Dress for success. It will answer most of your questions.

Ah I didn't think of scooters. Thank you.

Actually I've bought the e-book from GUE's website many months ago, but I don't believe it covers this aspect. But thanks for the tip.
