Eventually???? How about after the first couple of times. Putting away is another issue. With 3 of us, lets just say things are a mess for a few days after. Wet suits everywhere, gloves, hoods, masks, boots, reg, bcs all times three. It beings to look like a dive shop threw up. After dry, we then have to sort and put in our correct bins. Even being this new, I already have 2 gloves without partners. Both right hand, which means I cannot make it into one pair. Now that it is warming outside which means we can spray things off with the hose. A little less messy, until it all has to come inside. One saving grace is that we all dive so nobody complains about the mess of dive gear everywhere.

Turn one of the gloves inside out, it will still keep you just as warm. May be a bit harder to use for fine-motor coordination but it will work. It'll also prove how dedicated you are. :D

I dive 100% in fresh cold water. Mostly in Lake Ontario, but also in lake Simcoe and soon in lake erie. So far with one year certified coming up soon I have not been able to dive without a hood. Most people who I dive with go dry, but I a have no trouble going under the ice in my 7mm.

I love freshwater diving. No need to rinse the gear afterwards. you can go straight to the after-dive beer.

Come swim with the muskie on night drift dives in the Niagara River - the tarpon at Buddy in Bonaire is a midget.....

"Could some of you who live inland tell me about quarry diving, and lakes? Why do you do it, . . ."

Ocean = 6 hour drive
Quarry = 2 hour drive
Gas = $3.90/gal.

Qcean = requires ovenight stay $75 min. for hotel
Quarry = back home same day

Ocean = pretty much requires boat dive = $90+
Quarry = shore dive = $20

Ocean dive = my butt is exhausted at the end of the trip
Quarry dive = get back home, have a cold beer and crawl into my own bed

What else???

I think you pretty much covered the whole thing. That says it all. :popcorn:

Yepper except I was expecting a much better happy ending for his butt after quarry diving...:D

With that face ;)

Diving is as diving does, and I dive where ever I find access to water deep enough. While I am spoiled in that I live less than 10 minutes from the beach, I like and have been known to drive for hours to dive in freshwater too. Just because!

Some of my benefits, which will probably just be repeats...

Living in an area rich in history, I can find war treasures both off shore in the wrecks as well as inshore, those being far older, like Revolutionary War age, not that I have found anything. But the possibility is there!

The fish life is different.

Because quarries are a controlled environment it is a great place to learn and hone skills, and since most people there are diving for that reason, no one looks at you funny no matter what you bring in with you.

Camping! Nothing better after a long day of diving than cooking on an open fire, drinking some brews and sleeping under the stars! Or in a tent if the skeeters are out. And you don't feel all sticky from salt, so you and your SO can...ah...;) (just don't pee in your wetsuit)

Here is a link for feeding the fish Cheese Whiz. With that link there are other things that we do. UW basketball and UW rocking horse.
