Not so much a travel question, but...

I keep telling my wife I'm going to quit my job and move to Hawaii or Aruba or wherever and I'm going to instruct and she can sit on the beach and watch the kid(s) and we'll do the island thing for the rest of our lives.

Cool dream, but I've seen that a couple of you are working DM/Guide/Instructors at various tropical locations.

Can anyone talk me out of this? Tell me what the cons are - I know the pros. Crap pay, long hours, newbie divers? Am I missing anything. What's the job market like, etc. Any an all info would be great.

and whether that is important is up to you.

I'll shoot off a PM this evening, but at least one basic issue applies to you. Kids.

Many countries have no interest in educating the children of ex-pats. You'd have a hard time getting a work permit here in Cayman unless you could demonstrate clearly that you can support your spouse and children fully, including private school tuition for the kids.

Of course that may not be an issue if you stay in the USA.
