Enjoyed reading all the responses. I'm looking to do the same thing. Looking to retire in my late 50s and will be a DM by then, may move on to instructor at some point. If my health holds out, would love to find some place to DM for about 3-5 months a year. I know I won't become rich doing it, just hoping to find something that pays the rent, pays for my food, and some form of transportation. Maybe work on instructor while working.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Remember that everywhere you might want to work, there are others with whom you are competing to do that work. The more credentials and experience you can offer, the better. Thus, instructor is better than DM, instructor with specialties is better than instructor; 50-ton license is better than 6-pak; IT skills are better than none; diesel mechanic is better than just boat rider; etc.

Good luck to you! By the way, being 50 and entering the professional diving realm will be a plus for whoever engages you as long as you are in good physical shape. You clearly have great qualifications, and I believe the maturity that comes with life experience will be appreciated by those you who work with you. Go for it! I dream of doing this one day as well.
