This is my first time putting together a reg, and I am on the SPG. 2 questions:

1. I have a little tub of Trident silicone lube from a couple O-rings I lubed a while back. Is this stuff alright for the O-rings on the airspool?

2. How tight does the connection between the SPG and the hose have to be?

Thanks a lot.

!. Which part is the "airspool?"

2. Tight enough so that it does not come loose--finger tight and then a little bit more with a wrench does it for me. If you can't unscrew it by hand it's probably OK. I check all of my connections before a dive just to be sure.

I have been using high-quality silicone grease for decades on the O-Rings and it has worked great for me. Others may say otherwise.

Unless you are using high oxygen percentages- more than 40%, silicone is fine.
The spool is the one place where "more is better" when applying to grease. The spool is subjected to salt water that can not easily be rinsed out so packing a little extra grease around the spool helps keep it from being corroded in.
As for tightening the SPG, fully hand tight plus snugging it up is all that is needed. As long as it does not come apart, it's tight enough. NEVER try to tighten an oring sealed connection to stop a leak, they do not work that way. If it's seated fully hand tight, more tightening will not fix a leak but you can do damage if you over tighten a hose connection.

Alright, thanks a lot. I am not doing any high O2 percent dives, so I will go ahead with the grease. And hand tight plus a little, will do. Thanks

If the SPG is plastic please use two wrenches.
Alec Peirce shows how its done here.
