Purchasing live a board trip

We want to go on a live a board dive trip in Asia....destination unknown at this time. Is it better/cheaper to purchase this trip via a travel agency or direct from the company that is offering the trip? Any input would be appreciated.

My advise is to find a liveaboard that you want (best recommendation is from fellow divers) perhaps you can pick a liveaboard recommendation from here and then ask a few companies (including directly to that company) for the rate and what is included (airport pickups / transfers / meals / equipment hire / nitrox fills / 15l tanks ?) We for one deal with many of these enquiries every day as people try to get the best deal. For interest the Liveaboards to the Similans will start again in October and you can get 10% - 20% discount if booked in advanced around this time.
