I'm a Fish!
I just spent ten days in Puerto Lopez, on the coast of Ecuador about 4 hrs. drive north of Guayaquil. They have an excellent dive operator: Exploramar Divers. The cost for a two-tank dive including all rental gear and two hour (+/-) boat ride to Isla de la Plata was $110. Not bad, all things considered.

I ended up not diving with them as I was there mainly to see the humpback whale migration. Once hooked I just could not tear myself away from the whale boats. The cost for 5 hours on the whale boat was $20.

yes exploramar are a great outfit. i spent a month with them last year observing the giant manta aggregation at isla da la plata and am returning again in a few weeks. highly recommended
