i am ssi cert and i was wondering if i can take padi classes? i know its probly been asked before but didnt know what search for.

Sure you can. About the only place cross agency certs begin to matter is when you go past DM/Dive Con.
I suggest going to your local PADI dive shop with your cert card and logbook. You may be able to find others going on trips that you can join as well.
