2250 -- working pressure (PSI)
HJ<blah> -- serial number
10 75 -- hydroed in October, 1975

The "G" is probably the hydro tester.

This is covered in much greater detail in the "Tanks, Valves and Bands" forum, please go there and use the search function to find what you need.

Everyone else has this pretty well coverd, but if you would like further information about these markings as well as about the technical side of other equipment, might I suggest a PADI Equipment Specialist course..??

The course should teach you how to take apart and work on nearly every piece of equipment you own/use, to include that some instructors will get you VIP certified as well. At least, when I took my course that's everything I was taught.

isn't the meaning of the tank markings in the OW manual anymore?

This means your tank is way overdue for a hydro test.

I believe the HJ before the number is the code for Healthways scuba.

So what's the benefit of VIP training for equipment spec?

The "G" is actually a "C" with a small "L" inside. It was the testers mark of Cochran Labs who used to do all of the original hydro testing for Pressed Steel Tanks. PST manufactured virtually all of the old steel 72's. This is one of them. At the time this was made, tanks were stamped with the name or designation of the company for which they were made, rather than the name of the manufacturer. Thus the "HJ" for Healthways rather than PST for Pressed Steel.
