I am looking for any feedback anyone can offer information about IDC's especially Pro Dive Ft. Lauderdale. I am an experienced diver and the possibility of continuous classes to achieve the goal of a Master Instructor and Resort Operation Specialist appeals to me. In visiting with some people in the profession I hear two sides. I hear that Pro Dive graduates are highly in demand, even so far that some operations will not hire anyone but Pro Dive graduates. On the other hand, I hear from my local LDS that it is a "rush 'em through" cattle car operation and they would not hire an instructer who graduated from there. It goes without saying that this LDS has their own IDC.

I realize that I am opening up what could be a pretty heated debate here but to hear strong opinions from both sides would be beneficial to my decision.

Thank you all in advance for your participation.

I went through another well known Fl. based IDC. After my IDC I had lunch with a store manager from the same chain and we discussed "Pro Dive". His words "Class Act !!".

I do not regret where I went due to the CD who now is at PDI HQ.

If you know where I am comming from do not hesitate to PM me.

BTW,Master Instructor.... why?

I went to an IDC in Vero Beach, FL thru Deepsix or E.A.S.E. http://www.deepsix.com/. I can't imagine a better place to go. The Course Director (Phillipe Yersin) is fantastic. He will have you so ready for your IE it will be a breeze. The accomodations (a house nestled in the woods) and food are included in the price ($1195) and they have an onsite pool and the IE will be the weekend after the IDC about 20 minutes from where you will be staying. Seven of us from Deepsix took the IE at the same time that one person from Prodive took it. We all passed but we were obviously much more prepared (even the person from Prodive commented on that fact) and scored higher. Check them out, you won't be dissapointed.

I've always hesitated to hire Pro-Dive grads. It is a program that you get what you put into it. I think it has a mixed rep among the industry. I have worked with both extremes of grads, and would lean slightly against it. But if you work hard and go above and beyond what is required you can get alot out of it. I took a similar course in the Caymans, however I happened to be the only student in my class. Anyway, good luck.
