30# seems to be adequate for cold water diving with a 7/8mm wetsuit, 20# of lead, a 6# SS backplate and an HP-100 tank. Here, I'm counting on 6# of buoyancy from the compressed wetsuit at depth. Or I need to use up some of the air. No problem at the surface where the wetsuit provides plenty of buoyancy.
