I'd like to watch (preview) my mini-DV camcorder video on my laptop full screen but I can't figure out a way to do it.

The video will feed through the Firewire connection and can be seen as a direct feed in "Windows Explorer" (using XP) or as a preview in some of the capture programs I have. BUT, these are all small, just slightly bigger than the LCD screen on the camcorder.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't know if what you want can be done using windows built-in software.

at least one company makes a program which does exactly what you want. It costs $20, and they have a demo version.

I've not used it, so I cannot comment on how well it works.

But, the image quality will be very poor depending on the LCD size. Even after downloading a recording file, full screen mode in WMP shows a poor quality in my 12.1 LCD.

That is strictly a product of the difference in quality from the source vs your computer monitor. Don't forget that DV is 720x480, meaning that your screen will have lots of scaling artifacts if your screen resolution is above that - and considering that most computers these days run at 1024x768 or higher, its almost guaranteed that those artifacts will be present.

Want to avoid them? Need to buy a HD camcorder.
