Emphasize the OOA diver, but don't delay putting your own backup reg in your mouth. Since you are a pretty limited in what you can do while basically holding your breath.

I'm developing a muscle memory so that my necklaced reg is going in my mouth as my longhose comes over my head.

It makes much more sense now. Now I have to order new hoses too :wink:

Eventually you get to the point where good horizontal trim is the norm. And the thought of being vertical is "weird"

Well, underwater I'm actually rarely vertical.
I just haven't been underwater in awhile :(
