hmm.. i like either chocolatte or like any kind of potatoes or fruit. I like it to be sweet because my mouth gets really dry and "salty".

Okay, let me add a thing or two...

First, about seasickness... My dad told me once that most people get seasick on an empty stomach. He recommended you eat a moderate breakfast of 'bland' foods. For example, waffles, pancakes, english muffins and your beverage of choice. The key to this, according to him, was to go real light on the sweets (syrup and jelly/jam). You know, it works! The only time I got to feeling bad on the boat was when I didn't eat prior to getting on the boat. Every other time, I followed his suggestion and watch as others line the rail. You may want to try it and see if it works for you.

Regarding post-dive munchies... Deco Cookies (Oreos) and Pineapple are my favorites. However, someone in an earlier post said citrus is a quick way to the rail and I agree. If you're not feeling all that hot, steer clear of the pineapple.

Something else I heard (yeah, guess I'm on a roll) but haven't tried yet. To clear out the 'dry mouth' after diving, suck out the contents of a honey packet (the ones you get from a restaurant). The guy who told me about that swears by it, but I can't verify it. Has anyone else heard about it?

Have fun!

Butter Tarts (sugar pie or pecan pie to you Yanks...) We have a bakery outfit in town that sells off the Ooops packages.... wrong date, no printing, whatever, and they are prewrapped 2 to a pack, mostly waterproof!!

Trail mix is good, ginger cookies are good if you get seasick (speaking from experience!!) avoid coffee (not easy for me, i wonder if they could put tim hortons coffee into an iv ?!!), drink iced tea to get the caffeine and fluids into you.

Well, I must say, I truly enjoy a nice cold beer post dive. Really cures the dry mouth! And, I love Thai food too. Singha and gai phad kiing, mmmmm!

ChicagoMermaid:
That mix is the best! It's called "GORP" (don't ask me why)...it's a favorite with hikers and canoers. A handful after a long day of work helps with a quick energy boost too. ;)
Good 'Ole Raisins and Peanuts

ok - guess I'm the weirdo here

I adore.......(blush)....... cold mashed potatoe mixed with tuna garlic & mayo.

Gimme those carbs!

was wondering what you eat before a dive to help with the motion sickness??
I'd say avoid milk & dairy...this will almost always make me feel a bit off, even in a small amount. OJ does that to me, too, but fruit before/after a dive doesn't seem to bother me.

Post dive it's pretty much whatever I can lay my greedy hands on! I am always starved after a dive :) Chips and salsa are really a must for me, though!

Some boat captains will not allow bananas on thier boat! BAD LUCK!!! Don't let them know you have them...
Too true...but I would simply NOT take them at all. Every time in the past five years, bar one thing, that we have had any kind of boat trouble there have been bananas on board - we now do a banana check and caution before getting on the boat :)

my wife says french fries.......... i will always remeber standing in line at "whataburger" in Bonaire willing those fries to get done before the Legacy(windjammer) left on our last day as time was running down, still dripping from the last dive
