Are you asking me for my personal opinion??? or just a general message to the board???

ANyways, I will answer...

It comes down to how they look. I just like the looks of the Apeks ATX-200. The new first stage is all chrome, just like the old tx-100 (rest in peace, my friend). The Legend LX, has this weird plastic polymer coating on it that makes it look like the reg is wearing body armor. I dont know, it just kinda turned me off. I also dont like the exhaust tee on the Legend LX, just doesnt feel right. As far as which one breathes better.... I like the APeks. I actually had to tune mine DOWN from the factory, I didnt like how it was right at the edge of freeflow all the time. Very easy breather, and very smooth. BUT, THAT IS JUST MY OPINION...

Take it for what its worth, which may vary for some people.

Hey CD do you have to live in Florida to have a Florida room?? ;) :D

Also if you install a Florida room for me in New York will you also be installing warm weather for me?:out:

We agree on that - that’s the #1 reason I didn't select the new Legend LX - styling. The ratings were extremely good, but I don't get into those polymer coatings over the 1st stages. The LX 2nd stage is a great reg, I have the LX Octo - but selected the Apek's TX50 because I had heard some divers claims that the TX100 1st stage was bumping their heads when they leaned back.

So in your opinion, the Legend LX's are superior to the Apeks'?

Is this directed to me? In my opinion they're both excellent regs. However, I've found that the Legend LX breathes a little easier and is dryer. The Aqualung is dry in any position, even inverted, which the Apeks is not. This appeals to me and it's the main thing that made me decide in favour of the Legend LX over the Apeks.

I own 4 Poseidon Jetstreams with Poseidon seconds. They have provided excellant service. They are more expensive to service, I feel they can be finnicky to get tuned propperly, but they're worth it. The one thing I have seriously questioned as of late is extreme cold water service. The Poseidons have never failed me in any way. They breath the same at 30' as they do at 230'. The only difference I've felt is the extreme cold. Occasionally, you will have the sensation of breathing snow flakes. Frost will build up in the second stage around the mouth piece. Apex regulators, of which I own one now for Ice diving are better suited for this task. I have two Poseidon Cyclones on my Apex 1st though, I like side exhaust and the quality of Poseidon. As for the moving parts inside them, if the US Navy can use them and treat them as they do in military service, that's good enough for me. I'm throughly pleased !

Thanks...lots of good postings here...

I like my Apek's ATX50 but I also like my Aqua Lung LX as well.

I'm a Poseidon fanatic - I love their regulators.

The ports are standard size as far as I know.

I've never tuned my regs so I can't offer much on that...but I really enjoy mine.

I've been diving Cyclons for maybe 30 years w/out problems EXCEPT for freeflow if you drop your 2nd stage in the water! Wow....it's like trying to catch a hornet in a hurricanne. At present I use a newer polymer 2nd for main w/ one of my metal ones for octo. Now here is the question: How do you people adjust the venturi piece inside the 2nd stage. (for those who do not know about 300/5000 cyclons, there is a plastic barrel w/ an opening in the side where the air vented into the 2nd stage cavity. If you direct the air at the mouthpiece, you will get positive pressure. If directed away, freeflow becomes nearly impossible and inhale much more negative.) By screwing around with the direction of flow I can DRAMATICALLY change the breathing characteristic. Even so, I never see this discussed....what's the deal?

How do you people adjust the venturi piece inside the 2nd stage.
If you have TINY fingers, you might be able to get your finger in through the mouthpiece & just give the plastic bushing a nudge (rotate) one way or the other, it doesn't matter which direction or take much rotation.
Otherwise just unscrew the hose end & give it a twist. No tools needed.
