It took me a while to find this thread but I'm glad i persisted. I have a Poseidon Xtreme regulator as a main on my Apeks 1st stage. Works great and I have to say the Poseidon breaths easier than any I have tried thus far. Some one here stated that the Poseidon will deliver air when there is a failure. This is a fact! This past weekend I had a regulator failure while at 108 feet. My poseidon worked perfectly for air delivery even while it failed. I was able to breath normally with out getting that blowing out the cheeks that other regs give during free flow. I still made my safety stop and made a safe exit with 200lbs. I know thats a low number but my safety stop was needed. I took my reg in to my dealer, he took it apart and pulled the servo. couldn't find out what the problem was. Put it back together and it still free flowed. Took the servo back out and did a close magnified examination of the FEW parts. Low and behold, a piece of sand/debris was keeping the servo open. He cleaned the unit and re-assembled. BINGO. Tested and there we have it. Training kept me from panicing at depth. My regulator letting me breath kept me alive with out having to reach for the back-up which would have caused me to lose that much more air. Poseidon is a good choice.

I am new to scuba diving having just got my ow certificate. I am looking to buy a reg that will allow me go through any other courses without any issue (nitrox etc.) I am also looking to get an octopus as well. If i get a poseidon reg do i have to get a poseidon octopus as well. Money is not an issue. Just looking for the most versatility and quality.

I just don't get it, you posted the same question 3 times on 2 different section and with all the answers you still can't decide??? :11:

I like the Poseidon for their ability to deliver air but guess what, with an apeks you could even remove the offending sand particle underwater as the 2nd stage can be repaired underwater. The 1st stage is SEALED so no particles ever get in them.

That and wait till you get the bill for a Poseidon's servicing.

Heres a guy who's worried about a service bill. That I don't get. Thats like saying you'd rather change the brakes on your car Yourself, while headed down a mountain side when you could have had the brakes changed at a dealership but you refused to pay that money.

If you have a good dive shop, they take care of you in situations like mine. Well if you treat your dive shop and people with respect that is.

I service my own regs so I really don't care what the shops charge but ask yourself this how much does it cost to service a poseidon vs an Apeks

I have to stay the servicing prices don't really bother me, my volvo is a ***** to service but it does me just fine when i'm driving it.

I just finished up through normoxic trimix this past week with my xtreme posiedon regs and when we had a bad situation I was fine, and a buddy overbreathed his apex reg on the surface, that was enough for me.

I would love to see someone do this with 5mm or dry cloves on :D
I dont think it's going to work :no
If possible in 30 cm viz.

i just wanted some information. I didn't want to make anyone mad. Thanks for all your help.

lol you didnt do anything wrong were just boring *******s that argue about this stuff all day

Get 2 Durations. Then when you do more advanced stuff you'll be in good shape. Plus I thing the newer ones are O2 clean so you can use them on deco bottles. Double check that though I just heard it from a rep on Saturday
