When your a live aboard for 7 days. You can backup all your photos and videos without a laptop.

I am planning to purchase 4 housings like this one. And get my own 2.5' external hard drives.

I am printing all your advice, you technophiles....I am so happy to have tech support!

I've done some research the more advanced models will allow you to create seperate folderes each time you upload.
I dont know if this particular model can do so.

I will keep you guys posted.

Hey ya'll.

I am getting ready to do a liveaboard trip to Bahama with Blackbeards in June. I don't have a laptop and am looking, instead, to purchase a portable photo storage device. I'm confused about some of them, as I won't have a driver/software to upload them, like to a hard drive or something, via USB. I am looking for something that takes Memory Stick. I have a Sony DSC-W7 that uses lots of space on highest resolution setting of 7mp. I use it for video clips, too. I thought this might be a better route than buying more memory sticks and cheaper and smaller than a laptop. Any suggestions or past experiences? Thanks!

i had a flashtrax but the screen was very poor picture wise, i now have the epson p2000, it has an excellent screen (laptop quality) and a multifunction card reader.

i have a d70 and haven't even scratched the surface on filling to 40GB hard drive.

the latest version apparently has an 80GB hard drive.

list price $499

hahahahhah the one i am introducing is $90 only.

I found another unit for $140 w/ 80GB hard drive and 8-1 card reader

I think (may be wrong) you need to re-read that, it has this note

NB: A hard disk (not included in this package) is required for the device to function. You can buy any 2.5" Notebook IDE or ATA-6 hard disk from you local computer store or from online dealers like www.newegg.com & www.tigerdirect.com. It takes less than 5 mins to install the hard disk into the HyperDrive.

So $149 just gets you the case, you need to then pay for a hard drive to go in it too (unless you have spare notebook hard drives lying around).
