Hey guys Im thinking about getting a pony tank and have a couple questions for you

Anyone have any experence with the Zeagle Envoy Razor

http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=ZeagleRazor

I have the Zeagle Envoy deluxe and octo as main now...

Im thinking about buying a 13cu tank and putting this on the tank and usuing my envoy octo on it.. and a Pony bottle Gauge

http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=PonyGauge

One main thing would be that my main tank will have my 1st and 2nd stage but no octo and then cary this pony setup. Is this a bad idea??

Any info on any of this is greatful

Thanks
TK

The first question you need to ask yourself:
Why do you want a pony tank?

That is pretty much what I do. The only wierd thing on my rig is that I mount the pony upside down so I can reach down with my right hand and open the valve. I also dive with the valve closed to prevent leakage of my emergency air source. I just leave the hose pressurized after I do a pressure check before doning. Pony 2nd stage hangs on my rig where an octo would be hung.

Sorry, don't know anything about Zeagle. I use Sherwood and Kirby Morgan only.

When I Dive a single tank, I use a Pony. I would recommend a 19 cu.ft. though over a 13. I have a primary Reg on my main tank and my back-up Reg on the pony. I dive with the pony turned on. If I have a problem, I don't want to spend time turning on a valve. I've been using this setup for years and never had a problem with leakage.

I'm going down pretty much the same road, but I'm going with a 19cuf. I also have been using the Envoy Deluxe and octo. I like the Razor since it has a clean design and will have less potential for entanglement. The down side for me is not being able to easily move the octo from pony to main depending on the dive plan - I don't plan to carry the pony all the time. I think the solution is to put an Octo-Z on the BCD and leave the pony rigged with the Envoy octo. When diving the pony I'll have three 2nd stages, but the octo/inflator is not a big deal. On shallower dives I'll have my typcal level of redundancy without having to do any configuration.

My only minor complaint on the Razor right now is the valve knob turns rather hard-to get it to fully close and initially open takes a good crank on a rather small knob.

Good luck.

Guess you can say im a safety freak... and i always look at my octo on my main tank pointless (unless need to share)... so a pony just seems right to me... If i ever had problem with my main i have my pony... and if someone needs to share they use my pony... =)

Doug your brilliant I love the idea of the octo-z on my bcd... and my envoy octo on the pony...

And the knob issue.. do you think it will get easier to move with time or is it just plane small??

Sounds like good gas management might be easier, and cheaper....(and a better idea). ;)

Not true in terms of a failure of a valve to tank o-ring.....when that happens and your dive buddy is not close or paying attention,,,or you are diving solo....that 'pony' will come in handy. Gas planning and proper management of course is your first defense....but **** happens. A pony bottle is a great addition for many sport divers and the cost is minimal. I would suggest a 19cf slung.
