Denise, I continue to pray for your family. I hope you were also allowed to stay in the Ronald McDonald house with your daughter. My family once benefitted from a similar place on a military base called Fisher House and it's a wonderful program. They were very flexible with allowing other family members to share the room. We used it in shifts while some of us were at the hospital others went to the room to sleep and shower.

Take Care,

Pam

Thank you all so very much. Tomorrow will be two weeks and very little has changed. The respirator is still on 70%. Everytime they try to reduce it he runs a fever, his heart rate goes up and his 02 level drops too much. They don't know the source of the fever. His white blood cell count is not abnormal. They are running further tests today.
A local football team is coming to the Ronald McDonald house tomorrow to cook for the families.
I can't tell you all how blessed I feel during this Thanksgiving season to still have Zach with us. I am blessed with a large family and we are all very close and I am truly blessed to know each one of you, whether we have met or not.

The road is long and hard but Jesus guides your every step. If there is anything you need, please say so.

I'm sure they are pan culturing all fluids for a source. Have they looked at a rotoprone bed to improve oxygenation? Give the high fio2 the pf ratio we use is probably within the guidelines for it. Hope it starts to improve more for him but these things take time when infection sets in.

The doctors did more tests today and diagnosed him with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome. They have the respirator back to 100% now. They told my daughter that he would likely be on the respirator another 4 to 6 weeks. He is young and strong and that is working in his favor and they are also administering steroids. He is still heavily sedated so that his body can use all it's energy for healing. The doctors give us hope that he can beat this with time.
Thank you all for continuing to pray for him and his family.

I hope they have access to the rotoprone bed as well as an oscillator. These two devices we have found to be extremely useful in our treatment of patients with ARDs. I would encourage you to read up on them.

we're still here, denise - pulling for y'all & praying.
