Does anyone know the current water temperature for the Cozumel and Playa Del Carmen area? W will be there next week and are wondering what suits to bring.

One website I found says 79 degrees. A 3 mil full wetsuit will be just fine.
We dove late March/early April last year off the Yucatan (Puerto Aventuras - 60 miles south of Cancun) and the water temp was 84 F at the surface and 82 F on the bottom. Then we dove Cozumel in early December and the bottom temp was anywhere from 80 to 82. Some days I just wore my Poly skin and some days I wore my 3 mil wetsuit. My wife wore her 3 mil at all times. There were people diving in their bathing suits, people in shorties, people in 2 or 3 mil wetsuits. Only saw some elderly people and a few of the DMs wearing hoods. The DMs all wore 3 mils.
When we dove a cenote the water temp was 78 degrees, not much difference.
We didn't see any jellies either time, but there are plenty of hydroids. My wife got tagged on an exposed ankle.
Have fun. We'll be there again at the end of March.

I was just in cozumel (Feb 18-25) and did dives from 30-90 feet. The coldest water that my computer registered was 79 degrees, and it was as warm as 82. I wore a full 3 mil wetsuit (the new Henderson thermoprene - awesome material!) and was never truly cold - maybe a shiver going through a thermocline. My husband wore the same level of full wetsuit, and he was fine. People who dove with us wore 3 mil shorties, only swim trunks, polar fleece skins, etc - lots of variety in total coverage. Everyone seemed pretty comfortable around 3 mil though. Have a great trip - it was beautiful there!!!
