I currently have the hammerhead II SS plate with STA and single piece harness. I got it all rigged up and now am figuring out weighting. Out of curiosity, I picked up a pair of xs scuba weight pockets and kinda like them. They fit securely on the webbing and are not to big (about 5lbs each). I rigged the sta with scubapro cinch straps and was thinking that if needed, I could attach two more pockets to the lower tank strap. Has anyone tried this? I am currently testing my gear at my computer chair so everything is just a grand thought until spring where reality will take over. BTW, I don't think I'll need the extra weight but just thinking, also if two are enough, maybe moving them to the rear would be better? What da ya think?
Thanks

Put them on the waist strap next to the plate.

I'm still figuring out my best weighting, but do you have access to a pool (or, even better, access to a plane ticket for the Keys?). I use a weight belt for the majority of the weight, but I also have a couple of those xs Scuba weight pockets, and those are attached to the lower tank strap to that they're right over the plate. I find them to be useful in adjusting trim. What kind of tanks are you planning to use?

I use a DR TransPlate and on my waist belt I have the weight pouches as far back as possible...right against the plate and it works well for me.

I have heard of people on the board that put weights on their cam straps....but I would feel a little uncomfy with that. To each their own. With the weight pouches placed to the far rear...it balances out pretty good for me.

How much weight do you need anyway (total)? The xs scuba pockets on my lower cam strap hold a total of 4 pounds for trim (using AL80), and rest of my lead weight on my weight belt. I don't really like putting more weight pockets on my harness. Trying to keep stuff attached to my harness at a minimum, ya know.

PS: also using a DR transplate; hey, I like it.

At this time, I am trying to avoid a weight belt, I may opt to try the oms no sag weight pockets or something like the acb system. I never had a belt and hope to continue saying that.
