Stick your hand where it doesn't belong? Sure! What's the problem? 8-)

Terry

LOL

ANd once you take a good look at that picture you'll realize that he's actually got the bungie from his octopus snagged on the reef.... :D

R..

Diver0001:
 Are you kidding.... they're probably all full of plastic bits.... LOL Just kidding. .
BTW, dived with a guy last night who dives a Ranger and it has all metal D rings.
Oh, and the water temp is coming back up. FORTY DEGREES!

Lukiedukie:
Thank you all I am only thinking of stuff like dive lights or SMB. Thanks again

well, let's see :)

cost of canister light attached to plastic D-ring: $1400
cost of SS D--ring $4-5?

Why risk it?

ScottZeagle:
I have seen less than a handful of plastic d-rings come back broken in all my time @ Zeagle.

For a normal diving situation, they will be fine.
Compared to how many broken SS D-rings? How many do you think break and never get sent back?

IMHO, I'm happy to pay the $5 it costs for a D-ring that won't fail even in "abnormal" diving situations. That way, I never have to wonder if it's adequate.

Well, we have gone from a simple question to all different types of uses that really REQUIRE SS D-Rings. I fully agree that if you are going to be doing things that require SS d-rings, you should USE SS d-rings. All of our "non-travel" BCs come standard with SS d-rings, however we sell thousands of "travel style" BCs per year and I have yet to see (or hear) of the "plastic" d-rings breaking.

In the future, I will try to qualify my answer from the beggining....my apologies...

Scott
