Just finished three days of diving in Dahab. The backplate held well, felt comfortable and doesn't show any wear and tear even though it got some strain when getting out of water as it was wavy and those were shore dives. The only change I made is routing of harness through the top cam band instead of bottom, as it feels more secure.

One thing I noticed is that it has the tendency to lift the tank up - it's not possible to lower the tank without adding some slack in shoulder straps, but then the tank slides up as soon as you inflate the wing, and it's only held in place by the crotch strap. But this seem to be typical to any single harness webbing setup.

Funny, I have titanium D rings also and need another set or two to convert my other rigs.

How much weight in total do you save from using Titanium.

I have Mares’ anodised aluminium D-rings and triglides on my travel rig, which are very light. So I’m curious if the titanium will be lighter.

Titanium is about 56% the weight of steel. For me, every ounce counts. Even one ounce. The ounces add up. That wing/BP weighs under 5 pounds complete with a line cutter and mini-DGX light. Three titanium D rings are noticeably lighter than the three stainless D rings but not huge except, again, taken in the grande scheme of weight reduction everywhere in my total kit. I am planning a few future trips where luggage and carry on weight is severely restricted and I have my camera gear to contend with.

Aluminum D-rings will be lighter than titanium, approximately 35% the weight of steel. What I do not like about aluminum is that they get chewed up by the bolt snaps and do not clip off as smoothly as steel or titanium. But------ ;).

Mate you're so tiny I'm surprised you haven't enquired about halving your fare also including unlimited baggage
