i think what he is saying is that for the normal diver in "normal water temps" they are going to hold up just fine.
lukie what kind of diving are you doing? carrying alot of gear?
im not sure but if your into spearfishing you might like them its alot quiter if you ever clip or unclip stuff underwater and it keeps stuff from clanging around.

ScottZeagle:
You are correct, Bob. However, how many of your average divers will ever go into 45 degree water - much less FREEZING water!! ;)
I don't know the percentages, but the divers I dive with have to pay big bucks to dive in anything warmer than 45f. I did some warm water diving in Monterey a couple of months ago - 50 degrees! My guess is, Scott, that you don't manufacture dry suits either. :D
BTW, I wouldn't put my car keys on a plastic ring.

Well I am going to be doing mostly recreational diving in Texas quarries and may be a few trips to the ocean. Over time I will be progressing to at the very least rescue/recovery diver, but that is a 2-3 years away. So probably the most I will hang on it will be a light and a SMB. Hey Scott can I send you a PM with a question about one of your BCD's?

Someone will probably stand on me for this but have at it - -

Reef Hooks eat plastic d-rings. I guess you are not supposed to suspend a 200lb diver in a 3 knot current from a plastic d-ring.

If I had a $5 for every broken plastic d-ring I saw in Palau I would be well on my way to scott's drysuit now.

I should mention I own a Zeagle Ranger and Scout (with all d-rings intact). The Scout never made it to Palau, the Ranger fared well.

When I was in palau, the snap end of the reef hook was small enough to pass through the D-ring. So, those of us with plastic D-rings passed the clip through a ring on each side of the BC, then snapped the snap (ugh!) back onto the line. Thus, the strain was shared between two D-rings (and the attachment point was at the center of your body.)

ScottZeagle:
Hey Rick - ya wanna buy one???

:D
YES! As soon as the bluebird of happiness flies over me, showering me with coins...

Can you do this on plastic D-Rings?

Well I should hope not. ;)
