Hi -

I just got a new bc for warm-water diving - I can loosen it and get it over my drysuit for a test run, but I only have one free weekend to dive it in the ocean before I head down to Saba at the end of February. Not a problem as long as there aren't any storms that weekend, but I'm just trying to come up with a backup plan... Looking for a pool somewhere to toss on some gear and give the bc a quick test run - you can go through Mass Diving or East Coast for $25, but I was hoping for a somewhat cheaper backup plan...does anyone know of any other options?

thanks!

some times you can go to a local " y " and test your gear out. if you bought the bc at a local dive shop they should be able to help you out.
don stephens down in rye beach n.h. may be able to help you out. you can give him a call @ 603 436 4443. he's a pretty good guy about things like that.

Yeah - forgot to mention that we bought the gear from the shop my husband used to Divemaster for - they are on the other side of the country, but they give us great prices, so we make all major purchases from them. Will check into the Y...and I just realized that my own gym has a pool, so maybe...

thanks a bunch - Allison

The Newtonville Y usually lets divers into their small pool to test stuff as log as its clean...

I think we should create an all inclusive list of all "diver friendly" pools

I wish there were some SW pools around (I think there may be one in Duxbury) I hate getting chlorine on my gear (espically my DS).

I wish I lived closer - that's really cool.

Atlantic Aquasport in Rye, NH does in fact have a NaCl H2O pool. However, in order to prepare them for diving in the NE, most of their students do all poolwork wearing a complete wetsuit and therefore, frequently, the pool is not "well" heated. Someone wearing a wetsuit or drysuit will be quite comfortable; someone wearing only their skin might be a bit cold.
