Reading a thread recently

http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?p=1400826#post1400826

has made me realised that using aluminium or steel tanks (for a doubles setup) will affect hose routing, and hence the choice of first stages used.

I am trying to decide between the Apeks FST (TX/ATX100), FSR (ATX200) and the Scubapro MK17. I will be diving (hopefully) Luxfer AL80 doubles with a Halcyon manifold.

If anyone has any pictures of FST, FSR or MK17 hose routing, preferably set up on AL80 doubles, please share. I would be extremely grateful.

Thank you.

I don't have the manifold yet. I am considering Sea Elite (but am confused by the many different "versions" out there) but the Halcyon is the most readily available here (in Bangkok). OMS is available here (albeit in Phuket) but I have never seen the real thing so I would have to take a look when I have the chance.

couple of thoughts...

Don't rule out the DS4s. Don't let the pics that I posted in the other thread scare you away from these. They work fine. You just have to tilt 'em in a little and 'maybe' get a slightly longer backup reg hose. They're great regs at a great price. There are a lot of hardcore techies that will tell you that these are the ones to get.

The Sea Elite manifold will almost certainly give you the same problem as the Halcyon manifold... they are basically the same.

I'm not positive that my friend's OMS manifold alleviates this problem. He has the older style 'captured O-ring' type manifold and I would really have to double check to see if his setup is any better.

Here are two older threads that discuss the same thing. Wreckwriter, Roakey, O-ring, etc are pretty darn good sources. Read what they have to say.

Just a personal opinion but I use DS4's with both the Sea Elite and Halcyon Manifolds. I also use them with both of these manifolds on steel 108s, alum 80s and steel 72s. They work fine and route fine on all. The tilt is no big deal. :) Everything is up to personal preference and I thought I would just give you mine.

Stephen, thank you for the links and sound advice. I have not ruled out the DS4 - I do in fact have a 24" hose.

I posted the same question on TDS and have received a great FSR routing pic. Does anyone out there have a MK17 routing pic they'd like to share, please?

Vie, if you get the MK17 pics share that w/ us.

Sure, will do. I've already asked DA Aquamaster a while back but I guess this is kind of a busy time of year for everyone.

Thanks again for the FSR pic, WaterDawg.

I am giving my last final exam today and life should get saner - I'll try to run out to the boat today and put things together for a picture.

Makes me realize it has been over month since my last dive.
