Bolney:
Good idea michael, I used to do that with paintball guns and it worked out beautifully. We have tons of pawn shops around where I am. Maybe even a "wanted" classified ad in a local paper would convince some ex-hunters to check their attics to make a couple bucks...

Thanks guys!

I did see another gun about the same length, probably a slightly newer model at a pawn shop near my house. I would not be suprised to find a few bargains out there.

Yes Chad and thanks for your input!

It WILL be used as long as it all checks out ;)

We used to get lots of crap guns that divers bought at the flea market around the corner from our shop. Usually it took $50 to $100 bucks to get them working again. Many were not fixable and would get sold and come back in again in a month or so. :D

You have to know the models and their condition real well.

You got a good deal. The wood on the Sea Hornet is teak. Dixie Divers sells that gun for over $400, for the 60" gun, which is what tthat one looks like. Go to: http://www.dixiediver.com/ABBILLER HOME.htm to see it. You can also buy a reel for it, there.

The one in the middle of the first picture is a simple pole spear. Hook the rubber around your elbow, and pull the spear back and hold it near the end. Great for getting fish out from under rocks and stuff. The one on the right is a version of a Hawaiian Sling, but it appears to have a trigger mechanizm. It's normally just a thick piece of wood with a hole drilled through it. You hold the wood block and use it like a bow and arrow. When lobstering in the Bahama's, you may use either the pole spear or Hawaiian Sling, but you have to use a paralyzer tip, not a single point tip. You can't use anything that has a trigger mechanizm there.

I'm still using a spear gun I got from my uncle. He bought it back in the '70s. I see no need to spend anymore money.

I think you got a great buy!
