I think it could be pointed out that many dive training agencies no longer provide a thorough coverage of diving physics, and that new divers are receiving an abbreviated curriculum which leaves them largely ignorant of the principles governing the behavior of liquids and gases.

I have to admit that I do not teach gas laws as separate items but instead teach the kinetic gas model from first principles and lead that up to the ideal gas law, with some words about important corrections and non-linearity.

Pressure/Temperature is Gay-Lussac's Law.

Sacre Bleu, Thal, are you French? P/T is Boyle's Law. All the English say so! But seriously, Wikipedia says it is Amonton's Law, not Gay-Lussac's.

Anyhow, to round off the basic physics we have Dalton's Law. But many divers don't really know what it is, or how it applies.
We must not forget Cole's Law: Thinly shredded cabbage is edible. :D

Thal - Just curious, what "first principles" do you start with?
