Reference: Labor Day Weekend 2010
Joy and I went diving this past weekend in Boynton Beach Florida. It is quickly becoming one of our favorite places. If you are looking for a place to dive in south Florida, I highly recommend this location.
We used the dive boat called the "Deeper". We dove both Saturday and Sunday. The divers on the boat were a very enjoyable group. The Dive Con/First Mates (Terry and Nancy) were extremely helpful and enjoyable to talk to. We enjoyed the boat very much. It was a well run boat and provided us with an excellent service. We would definitely use this boat again. We had a very enjoyable time.
We love the dives offshore Boynton Beach. Only 2 miles offshore you find 80 feet of blue water and mountainous reefs. The abundant sealife provided that GIANT aquarium feel. There were tropicals, lobster, rays, turtles, shark, grouper, etc.
The diving was "drift" diving. We have found drift diving to be our favorite type of dive.
We were allowed to dive in groups of 2 as opposed to one large group. We really liked this. It gave us maximum freedom. It also allows the diver controlling the dive flag (tethered to a float on the surface) to easily control his ascent.
We stepped into the blue water, sent the OK signal, dropped below the surface, and immediately enjoyed the scenery. We slowly drifted downward through the sparkling aqua blue water. An easy reg purge sent a large stream of cool, fresh, enriched oxygen into the lungs. A few shots of air into the BC and our descent was halted a few feet above the seafloor. We then drifted weightlessly along the edge of the reef, traveling about 2 or 3 miles.
Lounging on the bow - 2 miles offshore Boynton Beach, 80 ft of blue seawater, mountainous reefs.
Terry - Excellent Dive Controller. Very helpful
Offshore Boynton Dive. Washed out blue because camera needs strobe and/or red filter.
