I will report it as soon as I get back. I'll even add some pictures :) but for now being I'm still trying to figure out weather to take a bus from CEBU to MAYA or take a Taxi.
I know that the rate for the taxi is about 60 $ but I don't know if its per person or for the whole taxi. It would be great if someone can help me with that.

the US$60 is for the whole taxi. you can actually get it cheaper if you haggle some more.

u can contact juan flores at 09204323156, he dropped my bestfriend to maya a few months ago when the latter went diving to malapascua.

I just came from Dumaguete and Apo island last month. Weather was perfect for diving. Most of the time Vis was excellent, current in Apo island was just right for you to enjoy your drift dive and the wall.

agree, I remember asking a few regular taxis around Cebu City how much they would charge for the trip to Maya (my transfer was already a part of a total package). I vaguely recall most of them said around ph2,500. Figure they're highballing me as a tourist, that means they must be some room for some haggling...

pitri, taking a bus is not that bad, and that should cost you only 80.00 per person. Ull be the first one to step in the bus and the last person to get out, since Maya is the last stop. The buses go really fast, so the trip would take you about 3.5 hrs only. They only have 2 stops for bout 10 mins for those who needed to go to the john, but other than that, it's all good. Don't worry about your dive gear too.

and given the size of the potholes towards the end of the trip, you're much better in a big bus than a dinky taxi... your back will thank you for that...

pitri have you talked to your hotel/resort in malapascua? just askt them for a return rate. i would do it by taxi. if you can find a taxi at the airport just go by meter. this is the cheepest way of doing it. airport-moalboal is 900pesos by meter. to maya it should be arround 1000 to 1500 pesos.

getting out of the airport they will offer you private transport (at about 60us i guess) go across the road. there is the lane for official taxis. just ask them and if possible go by meter

going by bus will take you forever

oh, the buses in the province, even the airconditioned ones, are not as good as the ones in manila (Tritan, Jam, etc). and in most cases, theyre a little smaller (but obviously bigger than a taxi). but if you are a seasoned backpacker, that shouldn't worry you at all, though. besides, its always cheaper to commute. thats another (additional) dive or two for you, pitri. :)
