Need some help prepping for the live chat with Dr. Petar Denoble on Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. ET to discuss patent foramen ovale (PFO)? Read "PFO and Decompression Illness in Recreational Divers" (Alert Diver | PFO and Decompression Illness in Recreational Divers ), "Divers With Holes in Their Hearts" (Alert Diver | Divers with Holes in their Hearts), and "Study Update: PFO" (http://ow.ly/eJs9a). To learn more about DAN's study on PFO, click here: Diving Medical Research Projects. Bring your questions to the PFO chat room here on ScubaBoard!

Sorry I'll miss it, but I'll be on a plane at that time. Without my PFO closure, I have no doubt I'd no longer be diving.

Me too. Thanks to the surgery I enjoyed an Aggressor trip to Palau with tons of diving and another land based trip to Palau with 3 dives a day. Then Roatan with 4 dives a day. Ahh, life is good.

Sadly, I missed it. I do have a PFO and have had a few discussions with some specialists at DAN. It appears that there is still no definitive relation between DCS and a PFO. If you follow a conservative profile and develop DCS you should have the surgery. To wain on the cautious side I should not dive where I need to do Deco stops (TEC diver) there is some belief that Nitrox would reduce my chances of DCS even under normal circumstances. I would like to have participated in the discussion to learn more.
