You might be disappointed by the Teric as a daily watch, due to battery life, unless you like recharging your watch all the time.
Yeah I was thinking that but I do have several wireless charging pads in my house and it looks like the cradle thing turns the watch into a neat little bedside clock. It's still not optimal and seems like a high price to me but doesn't it get a few days on a charge?

Yes, several days on a charge, even if diving. But the little charging stand does not allow it to be a useful bedside clock....the display is off while charging. You can physically hit a button to get the display, but I don't like to do that if I'm sleeping. SW says to beware of many/most charging pads as being too powerful for the little battery; they suggest the Peregrine charging pad if you like a flat one.

I find mine to be a bit to bulky and heavy to wear as a watch all day long.

I don't like the way it looks either.

Do you consider 6 years a long time for a dive computer? I have been hoping I could find one I'd use for a decade for myself. Last time I bought a computer was 10 years ago and I hated it so I figured I'd give the tech a decade to mature before trying it again.
6 years is quite a bit longer than the warranty period of 2 years, so I don’t think I have any cause for complaint. Would have loved for it to have lasted 10 years, but I’m not going to stress myself about gear replacement.

Yeah nobody's really just saying it but it looks like my desire for a dive computer to go a decade is too much to expect. I'm surprised about it but I'll get over it.

You keep saying that. It's really not.

Let me expand on my comment. I've owned 5 Shearwater computers. Two are around a decade old and while I've sold them, I'm pretty confident they are still in use. The 3 Shearwaters I still own are going strong and with the recommended general maintenance every 3-4 years, I have all confidence they will be going strong at 10 years or longer (whether I still own them or not).

OK. I never expected a sub-$200 Mares computer to last over a decade but it has and I see no particular reason it won't continue working. My wife says it restarted during a dive once and showed questionable info for the rest of the dive. That was a couple of years ago and we didn't dive again for a few days but it hasn't had any other problems since. She wants to work though so I'm very likely going to buy her a Perdix and two transmitters as she requested and I'm thinking if they don't last 5 years I'll be dissappointed, if they last a decade, great. Longer? Very happy.

Oh I do have a question since I have already apparently derailed this thread. Sorry about that OP, didn't mean to.

Do the wrist units display the battery level of the transmitters?

Yes, Shearwaters do. Not all computers do. And some do not display it during a dive.
