Well it does sound interesting. We did our certs in 58-59 water on the beach in California... 1-2' vis. I'm going to see what my husband wants to do. I'd assume that we'd want a 7 mm or 9mm suit for this. I don't have my own rig, yet, but DH does. He only has a 3mm, but renting a suit wouldn't be too expensive. 
You looking at this week or next week? From NOLA it should be about 5 hours according to my calculations on google maps.
Hmmm.... I'm game, but I don't know if hubby is. Plus, he did just drop $600 on his gear this week.
