Well if Eric calls a trip because of weather, then you know it's got to be bad. Better safe then sorry.

Teamcasa:
Especially for these two! I really hope they are at home telling each other, “Boy I feel bad for those two people. I’m glad we left when we did!”

If if is true, very sad.

This reminded me of a time a few years ago when I was walking along a seawall on the North Sea in England. It was in the dead of winter, I'll never forget because it was so cold. Anyway this waves comes up and tries to grab me. I swear it was like the thing had hands. I was saved by the guard rail and left soaking wet but it was a heck of a lot better than going into that sea! Quite scary.

LeeAnn, I know how you feel about your dive. I'm sorry :pftroest:

riguerin:
There were not 12 foot waves at Laguna today .. they were at Trestles :D

We were pulling in some sets that where easily double overhead at Uppers this AM.

You braveed those massive beasts? I'm curious how the shape is holding up from this swell down in Trestles. I'm thinking of heading down tonight, if I don't have a gig, and maybe hitting up the trails. What do you think?

From what I see on wetsand, Malibu will be diveable Monday and better on Wednesday. I'm gonna be coming back from Vegas Wednesday and might have enough energy for night dive.

Sorry to hear about your trip LeeAnne, obviously it's for the better.

I've been out every morning this week. It's not as spectacular as the media makes it out to be. It was definitely double overhead on the bigger sets; more like a couple feet overhead on average. Solid but fun sized ! :)

Shape ? Well, Trestles lights up on any South ground swell, like this one. Lowers in particular really shines. It's a freak'n machine wave and can easily handle the size up 3-4x overhead. Yesterday, it was going off; big classic widow peaks. There was a little bump on it from the eddy conditions. Uppers (where I surfed yesterday) was little sectiony but very makable. If you know were to sit, you can pick off the rights that swing wide and connect across the bay. Those waves can be as good if not better than the Lowers right.

As far as heading down tonight, it's probably not worth as of right now. The winds are all over it ... hard. I'm looking out the window right now - lots of white caps out there. Not sure what it will be like in the AM. My guess is shoulder to head+ high and fair/poor.

Ummm... you two are talking about surfing, right? I sure as heck wouldn't want to go through that kind of surf with tanks on.

Hell, you'd never make it anywhere near the water with tanks on ;)

Well yeah, every water lover has a board in the garage for days you can't dive. Of course some of us still don't tread into overhead or choppy from them wind just to get in the water.

<--- water lover, but doesn't surf.

(always preferred the underside to the topside!)
I'm with you! Hell I didn't understand a word riguerin said. I grew up in Connecticut, and we didn't HAVE surfers there, so I'm not up on surf lingo, I guess!

Anyway, Charlie and I just booked Peace for next Thursday, so we're going to try this again. Anyone wanna play hooky from work and join us? :blinking:
