The condo complex "directly next to" the beach access doesn't allow rentals I'm told. (this is from someone I know who owns a condo there.) It's a "walled in" and gated parking lot also. So it'd be hard to park there.

on the other side of the beach access are private owned houses. Can't slip that past them by parking there.

Across the street are boat docks & water. (this is where the public parking area is).

There are some condos a few lots up the street that you might be able to "sneak into", but just not that many options.

darn, maybe we should parachute in then ???

That prob explains why a number of people arrive via boat. They pull into the protected area and anchor "stern in" to the shore (usually with a 2nd achor towards shore or a sand screw anchor.) They then spend the day on the beach, diving, etc. it's a lot easier than carrying all that stuff over the sand.

Still though, the reduced parking and the walk keep more crowds at bay. There are alot of boaters, but imagine if access was easier by land - that place would be UBER CROWDED!

I agree Mat that more parking will draw a few more people. However, " beach goer's" will simply go somewhere else if the parking is full. We don't have as many choices of shore locations to dive.

As for more people, once you get underwater most of the people fade away pretty quick.

More access means more beach goers, more snorkelers, more divers, more fisherman, more of everyone :p

I've never not been able to park as is.

I've only been out there twice and not able to park.

One time ther was no parking even way down on the end. Thankfully Photohikedive and SeaYoda "made space" with their "Jedi Parking Trick" and I was able to squeeze in using the "same method".

Parking is parking, no matter the method :) Over the last couple years and several dozen dives(remember some of us dive it fairly regularly), I've always managed to park somehow.

The day I finally come down from Georgia, I WILL park somewhere, even if I have to walk a mile, I'm diven' dammit

I always bring a wagon when I fish out their I think it would work well when I dive their.

I had a few buddies try the wagon trick. Dive gear is heavy, if you don't have very wide wheels, it'll just sink in the soft sand.
