My friend and I will be coming to Cozumel on a cruise ship and will only be on the island from 10am-6pm. We would love to do an afternoon boat dive, but I can't resist the dolphin swim at Chankanaab park, so we are trying to fit both in. The dolphin swim is 11am-12:30pm and so far, the only afternoon dive we can find that will get us back to the boat in time is Aqua Safari's 3-5pm trip to Paradise Reef or Chankanaab Reef.

Are these reef's worth the trip, or would we be better off just renting some equipment and doing a shore dive (although I know it doesn't compare to the other boat diving). Any advice is helpful. Thanks!

I would choose Chankanaab Bolones over Paradise reef. It has nice, big coral heads and plenty of sea life. Paradise was a shallow dive, I did it during the day, but heard it is better as a night dive. You can also do a shore dive at the park (you have to go with a guide). They take you through a small cavern at the end of the park, not much to see after that.
