Roak.. I don't know. " DSAT Discover Tec lets you try technical diving equipment and procedures".

Sounds like it's nothing more than diving a backplate, wings and longhose.

So the marketing department decided they couldn't sell something called a "backplate specality"? :)

I think mosts posts are not against specific agencies, but against their credo:
"It is ok to do things lousy, they will improve later! "

When i saw a report of a DSAT course in the last issue of the german magazine "tauchen" i saw divers kneeing and even then handling stages lousy.
How should they learn when things are not taught properly ?

It is like the recreational instructors with spgs and consoles hanging down and beeing dragged over all things... how should the students learn from that that they should NOT do that ? And this is not PADI specific...it is seen in most recreational-agencies.

As long as we discuss things i still have hope of things improving !

Michael

But that's the point. His course isn't the issue here. Nobody's even dragged GUE into it. MHK has dragged himself into a debate on another agency's course. Remember what Sydney Diver wrote in his very first post?
I fail to see how an experienced diver and instructor voicing his concerns about a particular couse doesn't qualify as constructive.

At home I have some emails that some one forewarded me where PADI explained why they use the crawl before walk and teach skills on the bottom.

It's pretty funny.

I don't want to post the emails here but if you're interested PM me an email address and I'll foreward a copy.

MikeF, I don't post often of scubaboard or decostop but I spend more time than I really should lurking and I really enjoy reading all your posts. I agree with almost all the stuff you write and admire the amount of time you spend on educating the masses like myself. Because of this and because Im certainly not grammatically perfect myself, I don't worry about correcting spelling.

MikeFerrara:
There aren't any short cuts though, guid or no guid.

This, however, needs correction! :)

I believe the word you are looking for is --> Guide <---

Happy to help and keep up the good work!
(you must have your own office or at least noone can see your screen where you work..)

Thanks I fixed it.
