PADI - SSI? Recommended dive centres in Patong

Hi!

I'm planning to sign up for an Open Water Dive course in Patong, but am not sure if PADI or SSI makes any difference?

Any recommendations for dive centres? ... is Patong good or should I be interested in the quieter places in Phuket?

PADI, NAUI, BSAC, SSI, CMAS etc. all have good training standards and are world-wide recognized.
It's the Instructor teaching your course that can (and often will) make the difference.

Patong, Kata, Karon, Kamela and Bangtao all have professional dive shops and offer good beginner courses.
Walk around a bit, talk to some people in the shops and decide then with who you like to do your course.
