Yeah, I also learned everything straight away. Splitting Nitrox into two courses doesn't make much sense, in my opinion. Just a way to make money.

i would love to take every course available but like most my intestines dont make money so finding the right courses is important i learn best with indepth explenations and details and a lot of hands on so i guess ill just have to do a lot of homework as far a finding the right instructor and course structure.... anyone from southcoast MA on this thread that knows of some good instructors ?

You learned stage tank rigging and gas switch procedures on the same basic nitrox course?

You could always take GUE fundamentals and then their tech and cave courses and 7 courses would be all you ever need during your whole life. Quality would certainly be high.

SDI has a wreck diving course. Like the PADI intro level wreck diving course.

TDI has an advanced wreck diving course.

Generally SDI is the nontech intro version of courses and TDI is what the name says.

i want to take some advanced diving courses but am unsure of which agency to go with id like to take a nitrox, and wreck course but am unsure if i should go with tdi since those are "technical" specialities and as the name implies they are a technical diving instruction agency or if padi would be a better agency to go with
If you don't want to go Tech, then take the recreational route of TDI, SCUBA Diving International ( SDI ). If you decide later that you want to go the Tech route, then try the Intro to Tec course.

hiw do you pick the course based on the instructor ive only met one instructor and thats the one who did my ow course

Dive more, meet more people, talk to people. Talk to instructors and dive shops. A good instructor is worth their weight in gold if they can keep you alive.

Hello kevsil,
Was there anything wrong with the company you did your OW with? (Maybe not in your area).

Just choose a couple of dive shops in your area, talk to them, ask for some references from them, or ask here for anyone to vouch for them.

The advanced courses will be similar and you will get a better understanding if you want to take your diving down the tec path.

the thing i think im finding most difficult in choosing a course / agency is what one company calls an advanced class or an intro course another company calls their advanced course or vise versa and with the courses as expensive as they are i want to find a course thats challenging but also in the upper limits of my ability so for one i know im gettin my moneys worth and that I'm also retaining it

If the shop has both organizations, chat with them about what you would like to do, and see what they say about which course and instructor would line up best with your goals.
