Anyone have any opinions, (good, or bad) on Ultra Marine Divers in Punta Cana?

I am pretty sure they are a single guy or two who drives people down from from Punta Cana and dive out of Bayahibe on the Scuba Fun boats. I recognize the guy from when I was diving with Scuba Fun.

He is an independent instructor and rents spots on other peoples boats. He also chain smokes between dives.

I would just use Scuba Fun.

I realize it's across the peninsula, and people's time is worth money, but I was just told it would be $90 (usd) per day transportation from my hotel to Scuba Fun.

No thanks!

Thats why I suggested Ultra Marine Divers because they won't charge you for the ride. He makes the drive over anyway daily.

He is going to take you on a Scuba Fun boat if you go with him. He doesn't have his own boat, he just subs theirs.

If you haven't booked a hotel in Punta Cana yet consider staying in Bayahibe. The best of both worlds.

I stayed in Punta Cana and in hindsight I wish I would have taken @Ontwreckdiver 's advice. You could get by really cheap by staying at the little inn across the street from Scuba Fun. There is a convenience store there and many restaurants so you could walk anywhere you needed to go. I really liked it there.

I do highly recommend going up in the mountains and seeing the monkey's while you are there though, it was pretty cool, I have a whole new respect for them and those who take care of them.

I appreciate the advice, but I already booked and paid for a place, and don't really want to invite more aggravation by attempting to change it.

I booked the course with Udo, and Ultra Marine Divers. Finished the book work last week, now I can't hardly wait until this Summer!! :yeahbaby:
