It sounds like you got certified at a PADI 5 Star shop, but the certification is no different than from a non-5 Star shop. (And a 5 Star shop isn't any better than a non-5 Star shop, it's just a marketing thing.) Look yourself up at the replacement card site mentioned and with luck that will be it.

But, if you got certified in 95 with little or no diving since, you almost certainly want to do a good refresher and possibly just retake the entire class.

I never knew this was the case regarding the cards. This explains why my AOW card is covered in GOLD. Maybe I can schmelt it and dip my yoohoo in gold.

There should be a difference, other wise it wouldn't have been advertise as Five Star Padi cert. and yes my card was gold colour.

Thanks to all for the advise, I will try contacting PADI, if not lucky I'll let you know.

Thank you for the advise. I'll keep that in mind.

There is a difference - the color of your card. Your training and qualifications are identical to those whose cards aren't gold.

Maybe! It depends really. 5 star is for those who do lots of certs and buy a crap load of materials. They also are supposed to only teach PADI courses. It has nothing to do with the QUALITY of instruction. There are quite a few 5 star centers staffed by the puppy mill graduates. Not all of them mind you.

You have much to learn young Jedi.
