I always get a kick at how closed minded you guys are... And how far you'll go out of your way to bash PADI.

Maybe they shouldn't release a DVD that show divers doing valve drills and launching lift bags kneeling on the bottom of the pool.plwtwo:I always get a kick at how closed minded you guys are... And how far you'll go out of your way to bash PADI.

The "problem" with DSATs course IMO is 2 fold.
1) Deep air. When the poo hits the fan I don't want an END >100ft. Esp. in my cold (43-54F) local waters with less than good vis (4-15ft typically)
2) Loading the guns too early. They have you on deep air with 2 deco mixes (50% and O2 if I'm not mistaken) Now you're a new tech diver with 2 bottles strapped on, one of which will kill you if you mistakenly switch to it at 70ft. I don't know about anyone else but when I started out, having to manage 2 bottles and be perfect while hovering midwater would have been a bit much. I could handle 1 bottle, I could hover in mid-water ok (a bit less than perfect), but 2 bottles would have been dangerous.
That's why the DSAT courses are not prudent IMO. The kneeling thing is just icing.
BTW, GUE gets you to 140-160ft, on trimix with one deco gas in 9 days. 4 for Fundementals, 5 for Tech1 Ditto for NAUI Technical Diver. And yes we dive the same deco schedules on that normoxic trimix as PADI has you do for air. I don't know about the other agencies dicussed here.
